Faithful Devotion

My devotions this morning was in Acts 16 where Paul was trying very hard to get into Asia to spread the “Good News” of Christ, but the Holy Spirit kept preventing him from going.  Paul then waited in Troas until he received a vision from the Lord to go to Macedonia.
The area of “closed doors” that hit me here (instead of areas of Christian service) was just in everyday life.  How many times have we been frustrated because we feel stuck in our current situation?  Maybe you have a boss that seems impossible, or a job you really hate, or a family situation that you can’t seem to escape.  You feel stuck and trapped.
It got me to thinking that maybe God has a lesson for us to learn before he allows our situation to change.  Or maybe, our situation won’t change but our attitude toward our situation would change once we learn the lesson He needs for us to learn.  Being a loving Father, God directs our life in ways to make us better Christians and better people.  As strong-willed children, some of us (I’m talking about myself here) take a longer time to get the message.
Prayer – Father, help me to see the lessons I need to learn in the here and now, in my current situation.  Help me to not be afraid of changes in my life that will bring me closer to you.  Take my sin of selfishness away and replace it with a god-centered attitude. Amen.
